How do I convert PNG to SVG for free without signing up?

Updated on

Open the Homotope workshop, drop in your PNG, pick a preset and click “Download”: the SVG conversion is free, with no sign-up and no limit (except transparent background and recolouring, Pro), and runs in your browser.

Steps, no sign-up

  1. Open the workshop: no login screen gets in the way.
  2. Drop the PNG (or paste it with Ctrl+V). Existing transparency is kept: “Transparency: Keep” is the default.
  3. Use Logo for flat colours and sharp corners, Illustration for a richer drawing, Pixel art to keep every pixel square.
  4. If needed, set “Number of colours” in the “Advanced” panel.
  5. “Download” saves the SVG; “Copy SVG” puts it on the clipboard.

What stays free, and what needs an account

The SVG, the upscaled PNG and the fixed palette (your exact colours) stay free, with no account. A Google account becomes useful for production exports (DXF, EPS, PDF, separations) and to save your results.

Production exports (DXF, EPS, PDF, separations): 2 free per month with an account, unlimited with Pro; without Pro, 1 credit each beyond those 2. Prices are on the Pricing page.

Removing an opaque white background (“Make transparent”) can be previewed freely, but downloading it needs Pro or the 7-day trial: see how to get a logo without a background.

When the result disappoints

A 32 px PNG is upscaled before tracing but cannot invent missing details: start from the largest version. A photo becomes a poster of flat colours, not a gradient. The PNG to SVG guide covers each case, and this page explains why nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a watermark or a size limit?

No watermark. Files can be up to 80 MB; above 16 megapixels, “Fast processing (image reduced internally)” speeds things up if your device struggles.

How many PNGs can I convert?

As many as you like: tracing and SVG downloads are not counted, except transparent background and recolouring (Pro).

What about a JPG or a WebP?

Same steps: the workshop accepts PNG, JPG and WebP. GIF, BMP, HEIC and PDF are not accepted as input.
