Is there a free image vectorizer that doesn’t upload my file?
Updated on
Yes: Homotope vectorizes PNG, JPG and WebP images for free right in your browser, so the processing runs on your own device, the image is sent nowhere, and the SVG downloads with no account and no limit, except transparent background and recolouring (Pro).

How to do it without uploading anything
- Open the workshop: nothing to install, no account to create.
- Drop, drag or paste (Ctrl+V) the image. PNG, JPG and WebP up to 80 MB, at their real size, never silently downscaled.
- Pick a preset: Logo, Illustration, “Black and white”, Pixel art… and compare with the before/after slider.
- Click “Download” for the SVG, or “Copy SVG” to paste it into your software. The upscaled PNG export is free too.
Homotope traces in your browser: the engine runs on your own machine, in a Web Worker, and your image is sent nowhere unless you save it to your account or ask for server processing. The workshop opens without an account and without a usage limit: tracing, preview, SVG and PNG exports are free, except transparent background and recolouring (Pro). Production exports are converted in your browser too.
What reaches a server, and when
- Nothing by default: the engine runs in a Web Worker in your browser.
- Save to my account: only when you ask, with a Google account.
- Process on the server: offered for very large images, never started without your click.
Production exports (DXF, EPS, PDF, separations): 2 free per month with an account, unlimited with Pro; without Pro, 1 credit each beyond those 2. The details: how much vectorizing costs.
For a sensitive file, also read whether an online vectorizer is safe for a confidential logo, and how to check it yourself.
Limits
Processing depends on your device: a very large image can run out of memory, especially on a phone; the workshop says so and offers “Fast processing (image reduced internally)”. A photo becomes a posterised image, never a continuous gradient. For a step-by-step guide to a common file, see PNG to SVG or JPG to SVG.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install any software?
No. The workshop opens in your browser, on a computer or a phone, yet the processing still happens on your device.
Is the SVG really free without an account?
Yes: tracing, the preview, SVG download, “Copy SVG” and PNG export are free, with no account and no limit, except transparent background and recolouring (Pro), which you can still preview freely.
What happens if I close the tab?
The result is gone, since it only exists in your browser: download it first, or save it to your account if you have one.
