Is an online vectorizer safe for a confidential logo?
Updated on
With Homotope, yes by default: the logo is traced in your browser and sent to no server, unless you save it to your account or ask for server processing yourself.

What reaches a server at Homotope
The Homotope engine is a Web Worker: it runs inside the tab, on your own processor. Here is what reaches our servers, action by action.
- Tracing: nothing, the engine runs on your machine.
- “Save to my account”: the image and result are stored in your gallery, at your request; deleting the account erases them for good.
- “Process on the server”: offered for very large images, never automatic; the workshop warns that the image is sent for that job.
- Production exports: the conversion stays local; the browser only asks the server to count the export, without the image.
Production exports (DXF, EPS, PDF, separations): 2 free per month with an account, unlimited with Pro; without Pro, 1 credit each beyond those 2. The details: how much vectorizing costs.
Check it yourself
- Open the workshop, then your browser’s developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and the Network tab.
- Clear the list, drop your logo and run the tracing.
- Go through the requests: none carries the image during processing. An upload only appears if you click “Save to my account” or “Process on the server”.
For any other service, run the same test and read its privacy policy; ours is on the Privacy page.
What this does not cover
Homotope does not protect your machine itself: a browser extension allowed to read pages can see what you drop into them. Once downloaded, the SVG travels like any file. For the full logo workflow, see vectorize a logo; for the free tool itself, vectorize without uploading.
Frequently asked questions
Does Homotope keep a copy of my logo?
No, unless you save it to your account or start server processing. Otherwise the image never leaves your browser.
Do I need an account to work on a client logo?
No. Tracing, SVG and PNG work without an account; the account is for production exports and the gallery.
Can I check without technical skills?
Yes: the Network tab of the developer tools lists every request. None should contain your image during processing.
